Federal Aviation Administration Internal Controls Project
The Federal Aviation Administration engaged TechnaLink to provide support services to implement OMB guidance requirements on existing or proposed internal controls, to aid in the overall financial and performance evaluation of current business processes and procedures.
As part of this effort, TechnaLink assessed, evaluated, documented, and tested FAA’s internal controls within the Aviation Insurance program, Overflight Fees process, and the Statement of Current and Forecast Activities report. TechnaLink assessed the design of controls in each area in relation to their impact on relevant material line items and accounts, control objectives and control techniques. This effort required TechnaLink to evaluate controls at both the transactional and process levels, develop a plan for testing controls, test the controls and report the results.
TechnaLink’s approach was to analyze the current processes, workflow and procedures in place and produce business process documentation of current processes performed. We conducted an organizational assessment and produced recommendations on business process improvements, corrective action plans for identified internal control weaknesses, and an independent recommendation for the ownership, organizational structure and operating model concept. In addition, TechnaLink provided a cost-benefit analysis study and provided a cost and charges validation review.
